Some jurisdictions, annual conferences, district, and local churches provide scholarships for mission journeys. Be sure to check with your conference coordinator to see if you are eligible in your conference.
North Central Jurisdiction
THREE Scholarships ARE AVAILABLE FOR VOLUNTEERS IN THE NORTH CENTRAL JURISDICTION.
Beverly Nolte grew up in a clergy family in Kansas. She served as a United Methodist missionary in Argentina and Brazil for 15 years and was a clergy spouse for 41 years. Bev served as. The United Methodist Volunteers in Mission coordinator of the North Central Jurisdiction for 16 years. This scholarship supports missioners who meet the crieria and are sharing in any aspect of education as part of the mission journey, including, but not limited to Vacation Bible School, English as a Second Language, teacher aide, community health advocacy, youth and young adult leadership training, or any aspect of life-sustaining such as welding or sewing,
William (Bill) Rollins was the first and only Volunteer In Mission Staff person for the United Methodist Church for over 12 years. Bill assisted a vast number of persons from all over the Methodist Connection as they developed their VIM program. This scholarship was established in Bill’s name for young adults who meet the criteria and are accepted as participants of a Discover…Mission team.
The Directors Scholarship was created by the UMVIMNCJ Board of Directors in 2022. These funds are designated for all volunteers with preference for first-time volunteers. who are members of a United Methodist church in the North Central Jurisdiction. Volunteers may request this scholarship once each year. The team must has a trained team leader. and has purchased or plans to purchase UMVIM team insurance.
With each scholarship, recipients are expected to share the story of their mission experience with local churches, districts, conference, and jurisdiction.
