options for serving as an individual or couple

While UMVIM’s ministry is focused on short-term volunteer mission teams, our ministry partners do have opportunities for individuals or couples.

I’m a young adult and want to explore programs to serve over a longer period of time.

Global Ministries, the official mission agency for the UMC, has several programs which help young adults serve, including the Mission Fellows program.

Global Mission Fellows is a two-year program for young adults (ages 20-30). Partnering with community organizations, fellows learn while they serve, helping those in need while furthering their own professional development in a cohort of likeminded young adults. Fellows address a variety of issues, including migration/immigration, education, public health, poverty and more. The program has two tracks based on where fellows serve: U.S. and International.

I want to serve as an individual volunteer, or with my partner as a couple.

The Mission Volunteer program is administered by Global Ministries with the help and support of UMVIM. Mission Volunteers are short to long-term self-funded individuals or couples. Placed at partner sites worldwide, Mission Volunteers serve in a variety of roles, from working with refugees, children and youth to serving as a teacher, pastor, camp director or health care professional.

Mission volunteers are selected via an application process, and trainings for the program are held at least twice a year in different areas of the USA.
